Torque King® Master Rear Wheel Bearing and Seal Kits for your Dodge feature premium Timken® bearings and National®  wheel seals because when it comes to rear wheel bearings and seals, only the best will do to safely support the heavy loads your truck hauls.  To help you install these vital components properly, Torque King® Master Kits include spindle nut sockets, bearing drivers, and seal installers.  Why use makeshift installation methods that can damage precision surfaces when  tools are available to do the job right the first time?  All Kits also include axle flange gaskets, Theadlocker, and instructions.   Replacement of single-use,  factory spindle nuts is absolutely recommended, you may order kits without Spindle Nuts, with factory single Spindle Nuts or upgrade to our Torque King® Double Nut and Special Socket Set.  See Spindle Nut Sections above for descriptions of spindle nut choices.  If available, please provide the 7 or 8 digit axle tag number (ex: 605508-3). Dan the Gear Man™ Service Tip:  Differential bearing failures are very common on trucks with Cummins Diesel engines.  I recommend a complete rebearing job on these axles every 125,000 miles to prevent catastrophic failures.  This is especially important with the Model 70.  If cost is a major factor, you should at a minimum, replace the differential bearings and shims.

Most late 1970's and later Dana Axles have a Build Tag (red arrow) attached to the differential by  two of the differential cover bolts (yellow arrows). 
Earlier axles had the build code stamped on the right axle tube.  These stamped numbers are very hard to find on most axles.


Not all Dana axles have the model number cast on the housing. It can be very difficult to tell a Dana 60 from a Dana 70 as they have nearly identical cover with exactly the same bolt pattern.. One way to tell if you have a Dana 60 or Dana 70 is to measure the cover flange height (yellow arrow).  The Dana 60 flange height  is approximately 1" high.  The Dana 70 flange height is about 1¼" high.

WHAT MODEL REAR AXLE DO I HAVE IN MY DODGE?

Dodge used Dana rear axles on almost all 1960's and newer 3/4 and 1 Ton 4x4 trucks through the 2002 Model Year.

Dana Axles all have a Bill of Material Number that can be used to determine not only the axle model, but also what components the axle was originally built with.  The  BOM Number is a 6 digit number that begins with a 6 plus a dash number (ex: 605523-3)  The BOM number may by stamped on the right axle tube (older axles) or stamped on a tag affixed to the differential cover.  We often ask for this number to insure we provide you with the exact parts you need for your truck.
