*Dan the Gear Man™ Service Tip:  The upper king pins themselves usually do not need replacement.  If yours are worn or rough, order the QK4550 kit which includes both upper king pins, a ¾" drive impact socket/hex bit, and high strength Threadlocker.  The Dana recommended king pin torque is 600 ft-lbs.

 Axle U-Joint Kit

Axle U-Joint QuadKits come complete with your choice of  greaseable or cold-forged, non-greaseable axle u-joints plus the special tools, small parts, and chemicals you'll need to do a professional quality job.  Both types of u-joints are the best production units that we have ever found.  As a rule, the greaseable joints are a little easier to install because their flexible seals purge air as you press the caps in.  On the other hand, the non-greaseable types with their superior seals trap air under pressure during assembly which helps keep contaminants out.  Remember, a greaseable joint that is not regularly lubed will prematurely fail from water contamination.  So, if you and your grease gun don't get together very often, we recommend you select the non-greaseable version!  Each kit includes 2 axle u-joint assemblies, ½" drive spindle or axle shaft nut socket, RTV sealant, anti-seize, Threadlocker, disc brake lube, and instructions.  Made in U.S.A.

 Front wheel bearing kits for solid & IFS front axle 4x4 models.  Quickly and easily replace those critical front wheel bearings and seals without damage from makeshift installation methods!  Each kit includes the best quality components available: 4 Timken™ bearings with cups, 2 National™ (1/2 & 3/4 ton) or CR™ (1 ton) wheel seals, seal installer, bearing cup installers, driver handle, spindle nut socket, & instructions.  Also available without bearing cup installers and driver.  Tools made in U.S.A.  CR™ Seals made in U.S.A...  Timken™ bearings and National™ seals usually U.S.A. made, but may be imported.

Master Kits include 4 bearings with cups, 2 wheel seals, spindle nut socket, seal installer, bearing cup installers, & driver handle.

Kits with Installers, but without Spindle Nut Socket same as Master Kits except do not come with Spindle Nut Socket.

What Model Axle Does My Ford Have?

Most 1967 plus all 1968-1979 Ford F100 and F150 trucks except for some 1978-1979 F150 Super Cab trucks and all 1971½-1979 Broncos were equipped with a Dana-Spicer Model 44 Open Knuckle Front Axle.  The wheel hub on these trucks is approximately 3-3/8" in diameter.  The 1967-1971 axles had King Pins with tapered roller bearings, 1973-1979 trucks all have Ball Joints.

1978-1979 Heavy-Duty F-250 trucks and all F350 models plus some 1978-1979 F-150 Super Cabs use the Dana-Spicer Model 60 Open Knuckle Mono-Beam Front Axle with King Pins. The wheel hub on these trucks measures approximately 4-1/8" in diameter. 

1980-1988 Light-Duty F250 Trucks with the ?? diameter wheel hub have Dana-Spicer Model 44 Open Knuckle Twin Traction Beam Independent Front Suspension Front Axles.  The wheel hub on these trucks is approximately 3-3/8" in diameter.

1980-1988 Heavy-Duty F-250 trucks with the 4600 pound front axle and all 1989-1997 F-250's use the Dana-Spicer Model 50 Open Knuckle Twin Traction Beam Independent Front Suspension Front Axle. The wheel hub on these trucks measures approximately 4-1/8" in diameter.

1980-1985½ F-350 trucks with the 4600 pound front axle use the Dana-Spicer Model 50 Open Knuckle Twin Traction Beam Independent Front Suspension Front Axle. The wheel hub on these trucks measures approximately 4-1/8" in diameter.

1985½-1991 F-350 trucks use the Dana-Spicer Model 60 Open Knuckle Mono-Beam Front Axle with King Pins. The wheel hub on these trucks measures approximately 4-1/8" in diameter.

1992-1997 F-350 trucks use the Dana-Spicer Model 60 Open Knuckle Mono-Beam Front Axle with Ball Joints. The wheel hub on these trucks measures approximately 4-1/8" in diameter.
