include spindle nut sockets, bearing drivers, and seal
installers. Why use makeshift installation methods that can
damage precision surfaces when tools are available to do

1969-1985 F250 & 1978-79 F350
trucks with Model 60 and 61 full float rear axles used the same
bearings and seals. Up through at least 1978, all models
used double spindle nuts with a tanged lockwasher.
For 1979 and 1980, some trucks used a single spindle nut and
lock wedge instead of the double nut set. Starting in 1981, all
trucks used the single spindle nut and lock wedge, however
certain models used a left hand thread spindle nut on the left
side and a right hand spindle nut on the right side. Both the
Dana archives and our memories are a little fuzzy about exactly
which trucks had which nuts so we are not including either the
spindle lock washers or lock wedges with these kits, instead we
are offering them as options in the
small parts section farther down this page.
Master Kits include 4 bearings with cups, 2 wheel seals, 2
axle shaft flange gaskets, spindle nut socket, seal installer,
bearing cup installer, & driver handle.

1985½-1998 F250 and F350
trucks (except Super Duty models) with both single and dual rear
used a 10.25" Corporate rear axle with the same wheel bearings
for either model. These axles use a left hand thread
ratchet lock nut on the left side and a right hand thread
ratchet nut on the right side. The nuts are reusable but
are subject to wear. The axle shafts seal with o-rings
instead of gaskets. The wheel seals are of the oil bath type,
but oil leakage past the seals is a common problem with this
axle. There are several possible causes of leakage with a
plugged vent hose and/or fitting being at the top of the list.
Chronic leakage can often be traced to improper seal
installation or a defective hub (seal bore is off center or
damaged).
Master Kits include 4 bearings with cups, 2 oil bath wheel seals,
2 axle shaft o-rings, spindle nut socket, seal installer, bearing cup installers,
& driver handle.

Single Rear Wheel
Trucks with the 10.5"
Corporate rear axle is similar to the older (1985-1998) 10.25"
axle, however, the inner wheel bearings and seals are different.
(Note: F-350 Super Duty Dual
Rear trucks use a Dana 80
Axle and different wheel bearings.)
