Constant Velocity Driveshaft Rebuild Kits
for 1973-1991 GM 4x4 vehicles. Each kit includes 3 universal
joints, CV centering kit, and instructions. Your choice
of
either
heat treated, alloy steel
greaseable or cold-forged, alloy steel, non-greaseable factory
lubed axle u-joints. Both are
the best production u-joints of their type that we have ever
found and both feature durable, metal backed seals. As a rule, the greaseable joints are a little easier to
install because their flexible seals purge air as you press the
caps in. On the other hand, the non-greaseable types with their
factory synthetic lubricant and superior seals trap air under pressure during assembly which
helps keep contaminants out. Remember, a greaseable joint that
is not regularly lubed will prematurely fail from water
contamination. So, if you and your grease gun don't get together
very often, we recommend you select the non-greaseable version! Made in U.S.A.
Rebuild Kits for Saginaw CV shafts. GM
started using their own Saginaw CV shafts in 1977. These shafts
have a large round flange that bolts to the transfer case with
four 7/16" USS hex head bolts (5/8" wrench size). Each Kit
includes 3 heavy duty U-Joints, CV socket repair Kit,
threadlocker, & instructions.

Service Tip:
Saginaw CV joints use a
hardened steel centering ball pressed on the weld yoke stub.
This ball rarely wears out as long as it is kept adequately
lubed. When replacement is required, the ball is difficult to
change without a special, very expensive puller.
You may also find the original Saginaw CV
shaft has been replaced by a special Spicer built shaft. The
transfer case flange on Spicer conversion shafts is of
half-round configuration. If you need a kit for one of these
shafts, give us a call.
Rebuild Kits for Spicer™
CV Shafts. GM used Spicer CV shafts from 1966-1977. The CV yoke
is greaseable on all choices. Spicer
shafts are bolted to the transfer case with four 5/16" SAE hex
head bolts (usually ½" wrench
size). Each Kit includes 3 heavy duty U-Joints, CV
Kit, threadlocker, & instructions.

Service Tip:
Spicer CV joints have a CV centering yoke that contains a
pressed in ball and seat. We offer rebuild kits with
either the CV centering yoke assembly which is ready to install
or a CV ball repair kit which will replace only your original
worn out ball & seat (you reuse the yoke casting). The ball repair kits are
tricky to install and you will need a 1"-1¼" blind hole bearing
puller and a hydraulic press. |
