With the exception of our Torque King®  Mainshaft sets, we only use genuine, American made New Venture NV4500 gears and parts in our rebuilds.  We are so confident of the quality of our Torque King® Mainshafts and the genuine NVG parts we sell, that we guarantee them to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for one full year with NO MILEAGE LIMIT!  We also offer the same guarantee with our rebuilt and new NV4500 series transmissions.

When it comes to metal quality, strength, machining accuracy, fit, and finish, genuine NVG components are superior to any aftermarket part we have seen.  For this reason, we stock nearly every new genuine or new takeout NVG  part available. Our genuine NVG parts have a 1 year warranty.  (Due to slow shipping by NVG/MTM, almost all of our genuine NVG/MTM new parts are taken from brand new, first class transmissions.  (These parts are in perfect condition.)

We also have a selection of imported aftermarket gears and shafts to replace genuine NVG parts that are either discontinued or in very short supply.  Our aftermarket parts have a 6 month warranty on materials and workmanship.

NEWS UPDATE 1/18/2008 With the total closure of the NVG/MTM plant and the failure of American Gear and Transmission*, availability of quality NV4500 parts is becoming quite limited.  You will see an increasing number of our genuine NV4500 parts will be listed as SOLD OUT!  There is still hope that somebody will again produce Original Equipment quality parts for the NV4500, so we will continue to display out-of-stock NV4500 items on our webpages. 

*AGT was unable to bring the NV4500 back into production after they bought the NV4500 production rights and tooling.  AGT's  NV4500 tooling was liquidated at a nationally advertised auction in 2007.

Transmission Cases are new takeouts from brand new transmissions we disassembled for parts. Fit 1997-2007 GM or 1997-2005 Dodge.  These cases are complete with PTO covers.  For 5.04-1 Reverse ratio only so they will not accept the earlier 5.61-1 and 6.34-1 reverse idler gear. Made in U.S.A. Individual Genuine New Venture Synchronizer Rings fit all NV4500 transmissions.  Genuine NVG Friction Rings feature a carbon fiber lining and are noted for long life and smooth shifting.  Far superior to the cheap, imported brass rings sold by others. Dan the Gear Man Tech Tip:  When servicing your transmission, always check for wear on the internal splines of the 5th gear clutch and the corresponding splines in the countershaft.  The clutch is a loose slip-fit on the countershaft.  On a new shaft with a new clutch, a dial indicator mounted to the countershaft and indicating off a synchro tooth will read about .010".

SHIFT FORKS, COVERS, & TOWERS


Genuine New Venture Shift Cover Assembly is a new take-out, stock replacement part for 1995-up GM (except P-Truck) and 1998-up Dodge. Can also be used to retrofit older transmissions by purchasing the QK1025 Shift Lever Kit, QK1127 Shift Tower Kit, and QK1095 Shift Fork Pad Kit.

Dan the Gear Man Tech Tip:  If you have an older NV4500 with the integral shift tower (GM to 1994, Dodge to 1997), and you have trouble shifting into gear (usually 3rd or 4th), the culprit may be a worn shift tower seat.  A very strong spring exerts down pressure against the shift stub.  Over time, the stub will wear into the integral aluminum seat.  In extreme cases, the seat wears to the point where the shift stub base will hit the shift rail.  When this happens, the friction between the rail and stub can make shifting very difficult.  The solution is to replace the cover assembly with the later style model  (QU10706) with a removable shift tower.

Shift Rail, 5th Gear fits all NV4500 transmissions.  When rebuilding your NV4500, always inspect the forward tip of the 5th gear shift rail for wear.  A worn rail tip can bind against the case bore as you shift into or out of 5th gear.   If excessive force is required to shift in or out of fifth, a worn shift rail is a likely cause.
